Central Vice Chairperson Baloch Students Organization Azad (BSO-A) Murwarid Baloch in her statement termed the commencement of online classes by Higher Education Commission (HEC) from 1st June as injustice and cruelty to the students, and added that the state kept Balochistan backward in the field of education for last 70 years.

Students are the future-builder of any nation, but the state always had used different tactics to keep the students of Balochistan backward. Be it extrajudicial arrest and recovery of mutilated bodies of students, or creation of environment of fear among students by converting educational institutions into military camps. The creative and and research based skills of students have been suppressed by banning politics, progressive literature, and literary and knowledgeable discourses in educational institutions.

Murwarid Baloch further said that the internet services have been suspended in big cities of Balochistan over the orders of state institutions. Kalat, Awaran, Turbat, Panjgur, Surab, Kolu and other districts are the ones facing suspension of internet services, and rest of the majority areas have not been provided the internet services and facilities of electricity since the beginning. Students of Balochistan and those studying outside Balochistan are present at their natives areas due to the closure of their educational institutions. And these native areas of students do not have the facilities of electricity, and on other hand, the availability of internet service is a dream over there. While internet services have been suspended in big cities by the state over the orders of security institutions.  In this grave situation, the decision of online classes by HEC is a failed educational program and is tantamount to create rupture in educational career of students.

At end of her statement, Murwarid Baloch said that students of Balochistan, on one hand, are suffering from fear of security forces’ operation and extrajudicial arrest, and, on the other hand, are compelled to live in the environment of  anxious and suffocation due to commencement of online classes and lack of facilities. In this hard time, the organization stands shoulder to shoulder with students and will struggle fully against this injustice.
